Code B2911??? anyone heard of this?

i have a 2004 explorer limited with 120k on it awd, last night the check engine light started blinking and running really really rough. then the light went off and popped back up and stayed on (not blinking). i knew i would be working late tongiht so i had the woman run it by autozone to see what codes it was throwing.


autozone told her

p0316 - missfire at startup
p0308 - cylender 8 misfire

then they told her i need to look up B2911 under ob2 codes


i dont have a clue what b2911 is nor could i find anything when i searched the web.

they also tried selling her a crankshaft sensor and i told her to wait because i didnt know what it was yet..




anyone ever heard of this code or what it means?

yeah same here... i wonder why they tried to sell her a crankshaft sensor? misfire on cyl 8 leads me to think the coil needs to be replaced.. ive already done the plugs in it.

B usually means Body (ie not related to engine operation)

The ford manual does not list B2911, the highest it goes up to is B2477. My guess is the autozone guy may have misread the scanner as B codes are manufacturer specific and not all scanners read them correctly.

yeah i dont have a clue what the guy at autozone was talking about.. i went to advanced they pulled the code for cyl 8 misfire.. i bought me a coil and swapped it out in about 2 minutes and it fixed the issue...
