hello, this is my first post. i have been glancing at this forum for a while and now that i made sa mistake i am wondering if anyone can help me soon with my question.

basically i need to know what all to match up in replacing my pcm/ecu/ecm whatever you call it (they are the sam e thing right?) i was tuning my truck when it freaked out on me and froze for a very long time so i then disconnected it and later read in the manual that you NEVER DISCONNECT THE FLASH TUNER when writing or the lights are red. ever since then different codes are tripped when i test the CEL. and it drives rough and recently stasrted to say my tranny is out to now. i am pretty sure according to the warning details that i destroyed my computer somehow andwant to replace it for cheap.

i see very cheap computers onj ebay and want to know what i need to match up between my computer and the replscements i am choosing from. do i just buy another 2002 explorer cpu from an auto?

my car is a 2002 explorer sport with 2wd and auto
anyone know of the top of there head where my part is that i need to be pulling? firewall? driver's side?

thanks,
ian

thats what i was thinking but i have tried putting other tunes and now have returned it to stock and it still has all sorts of code errors and bad drivability. i'll try to play with it some more though and contact these guys tommorrow.

thanks,
ian

so as with my hunt to fix my problem I was turned to the actual company (Sniper) and one of the people there thinks they can fix it for me and if not will help me fix my problem for the least amount and with as much ease as possible.

so now my question is how do i delete this thread or close it or whatever or do i just leave it and let the new threads slowly go over this one?

srry, i am new to forums in general.

yeah, of course. right now i just emailed them my original stock tune and they said they may be able to fix it or play with it. don't really see how a working original tune would help but i did.

i think i have heard of people pulling the plug mid writting of a new tune and it kills the computer so since that is what i did i think i have the same problem but some how my computer was less damaged then what usually happens. from what i hear poeple won;t be able to even stsart there cars after what happens. i can, but my truck does shut of on the road after 15 min. or so.....

so i received an email back and basically they were able to set up the tuner device to force a repair stock version of my tune that returns it to stock and resets it. after that i deleted all my work and started new tunes from scratch and it is working well. i went to have a obd2 test and it passed everything that was related to the computer.

i will still fail from my tint. and my TPS was removed and replaced and i don;t hae it put on properly. i have this going on because i read about a mustang gt throttle body change that works on the 4.0 sohc motor. i ran into one problem in that the 01 is different than the 02 AND 03 4.0 sohc i think it is with the throttle idle bypass that is built in after 01. so i couldn;t put it on.

does anyone think that it would be fine to find an 01 oupper intake manifold and swap it. then the thropttle body will match up right and i adjust resting spot on the new throttle body to work with the the idle.

would this work or should i just try to fab a new adapter plate? i have a friend here with the machinery to do it all but it will be rough and take some time thats all. what do you guys think? also, being that i am a new member when i start a new conversation that desn;t have anything to do with the original title and topic should i start it as a new thread and stop talking here?

thanks,
ian
