I have an 01 Eddie with the 4.0 SOHC. Anyways, I have been reading and reading and trying to understand what I need and how to do this: TSB 02-7-6 4.0L SOHC Timing Chain Rattle, and how to fix it. I am seeing a lot of different part numbers, and as I read more into this thread http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163298&highlight=check+tsb
there are sooo many part numbers I am not sure what to get. If I just get the specified kit for the fix is that all I need to fix the stupid rattle? Also, I understand that people have had to retime the engine and some have not. Isn't there a cam locking tool to prevent movement while working on these parts? Please help me clarify as I will be performing this task in a week or so. Also, the rattle isn't really bad right now, it's very faint. Is it even necessary that I jump on this now? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
