The housing for the mechanism to raise and lower the console arm between the driver and passenger seat got broke. I bought a new housing that contains the hinge mechanism. However, nobody can figure out how to get the old hinge mechanism out of the console arm. The hinge spindle has no springs nor slots for removal. There is some horizontal play in the spindle but very little. We've tried with screwdrivers to pry it from the plastic housing but with no luck. Would appreciate any tips!

Thanks,

You need to cut the pin to remove it. I used a Dremel tool to cut the pin in several places and then twisted it out with pliers.

You will need to remove the pin exactly as Surf has indicated. The pin is hardened steel and is very tough. The cut off wheel on my dremel rotary tool was too small too cut through the pin in one pass. As such I had to make several 45 deg angle cuts in the center of the pin.
