I had Contis on my Taurus - great handling, low price, American made!

We just bought our '06 Mounty and it has 18" Conti CrossContact on them. I think the previous owner said he put them on a little over a year ago, and they are already near the wear indicators.

They seem quite and stable, even with little tread remaining. But it seems the treadlife is poor.

I just put a set of Continental ExtremeContact all season tires on our Focus, and they're definitely better than the Pirelli's that were on it. Even when the Pirelli's were new, traction in both wet and dry situations wasn't that good. The car would spin the tires too easily and slide in the corners. The Continentals have been far better so far. The car is much more sure footed now.

I was looking at 255's too, but check the clearance between the tire sidewall and the steering knuckle. With stock 245's its only 10mm that would leave 5mm which might be too close for comfort??? You could add a 5mm hub centric spacer maybe?

In the end i stuck with the 245's not much to gain imho.

i went with the 255's...no problems at all.

Supposedly, 265's will fit stock. I HOPE that info is correct, as that's what I'll be buying.
