Converting chrome trim to black

I hate chrome. I hate the chrome trim on my X, & it's all weathered & needs to be replaced. I'm swapping everything over to black trim. I have a source for the front bumper, rear bumper, grill & headlight trim. However I'm having a hard time finding the molding on the rear quater panel. It looks like it's screwed/glued on. It's the piece on the bottom near the ends of the bumper on the side of the X.

Anyone know where to get this? I went to some local body shops & they don't have this piece in their systems. Is this part of the rear panels? My project is on hold untill I know for sure if this piece can be gotten.

Anyone ever do this before?

Couldn't you just sand the chrome off and use some automotive paint from Advance Auto Parts or something? I am thinking of doing something similar to that with my Ex because that chrome is looking very battered.

It feels like plastic so I wouldn't want to do that. Besides I'll make a mess of it I'm sure. I'm not a body guy.

You can buy ready to paint grills on ebay.

If It's plastic, all can be easily painted with the proper paint and prep, using rattle cans. I did all mine over a year ago, has held up perfect

Thanks for the paint suggestions, however I do not want to do this. I want it done right I do not want to deal with paint issues 2-3 years down the road because I was too cheap & tried a DIY fix. If anything gets painted I'll get a body shop to do it. Only having trouble finding that rear molding part. I'm going to search some junk yards this week see if I can find one in black.
