I am changing my coolant for the second time since new.
After draining appx 10 qts (incl reservoir) I added my 50/50 prestone mix. Then as an after thought I looked at the owners manual to check the system capacity.

I was surprised to see they call for Ford extended life coolant (DEX-COOL). I put in Peak coolant two years ago and at the time recall draining green coolant and never even noticed what the manual said. I think I would have noticed a different color coolant. Also, the manual says 8 qts. I think it took closer to 12 qts including the reservoir.

Is it OK to continue with green Prestone?
What color is the original factory fill coolant?
Any thoughts on the capacity issue?

i think GM uses the orange coolant.

i don't think green will harm you, you've already done it before, and if it was gonna screw up something i would think it would have done so already.

capacity? not sure....but i think if its only supposed to hold 8 qts you'll come across the other 3-4 qts sometime ;)

Useing Green means you should change every two years. Dex cool is good for five years but when mixed with green it goes back to two.

Thanks guys...just wanted to make sure!
