How likely that I got a false positive on this warning light? The actual guage said normal (centered) and I heard the electric fan come on while I was driving maybe 25mph. I had been driving approx 10 minutes when this happened.

The light went out by itself, no further issues on the ride home for another 15 minutes.

Is it probably a sensor giving a bad signal?

Oh yes, I have a 2006 V6 Mountaineer AWD and it has less than 30k on it.

I had the same problem - light did not come on, but was losing antifreeze. The dealer has to replace the radiator - the upper hose housing was cracked. Hope this helps

How many miles did you have when that happened?

I'm getting a new radiator for XMAS

and it's covered by warranty. God bless us every one. LOL

It started last December around 20,000 miles. The plastic sides disconnect from the fins, causing leaks. This is a common problem with these Explorer - bad design or metal dissociation ?

Heh...This was also an issue on my 96. The seal goes bad and it leaks. There was a TSB on it long ago. I talked to the OEM(Visteon- they are ford supplier and who I got the aftermarket one from) about this and they said all plastic/aluminum radiators may have this issue, especially ford ones.
