I don’t know how many of you have seen the 2003 Expeditions (Eddie Bauer Edition) but one neat feature is Cooled driver and Passenger seats.

My mom has the 03, and after a long road trip in the sun that I took with the Family, I realized the value of these cooled seats!

It’s kind of hard to get used to at first, kind of feels like you wet yourself, but you get used to it.

Basically I am just asking for advice, or a scope, of if this can be done. I have heated seats, but I doubt that I can just add the cooling feature. It would probably entail finding an Expedition that matched my interior, or ordering them, and changing out the seats entirely. I'm not even sure the Expedition seats will fit in my X.

Thanks for the advice,

anything can be done with enough $$$.. a few cars now have heated and cooled seats.. im sure if u look into it, you;ll find a car that has those features that are similar in size to the explorers and easier to convert than the expeditions.

Also there are aftermarket companies that make add on seat heaters so I dont see why they wouldnt keep up and have heaters and coolers..........try searching online I bet you find them, then you can keep your seats and just install these suckers.....

I don't imagine that it would be terribly difficult (although not simple). Basically these have a little fan in the seat and there should be some duct work coming from the A/C (that is my understanding of how they work anyway).

liquid nitrogen!!! that's the way to go! it'll keep you and your whole car cool. no need for even ac!! whoo!! sorry. i've heard of heated seats, but cooled? does it use the ducts from the ac?

i think you just answered your own question; and the cost to you is only to do a little more laundry once in a while (and i suppose keeping a drink nearby) ;)

I dont think the leather would like ice of me wetting myself :p

The new BMW 740 series have cooled seats, six fans in each seat, and the leather is perforated to allow air flow. Pretty neat idea, but heck, for 80k, it better be a great idea:eek:
