alright guys i need to know what a reasonable install would be for a 2 inch suspension lift kit. the guys at truck accesories told me it would be 1000 dollars and i asked how much for the lift kit and the told me 500 dollars. so then i proceeded to tell them that i have found a suspension lift for 200 dollars and they still want to charge me 700 dollars. This is what im faced with will have around 800 dollars all together what could i do? i dont have a car lift so doing it would be impossible could you all suggest my alternatives.

any help would be apprecieated

A reasonable price depends on the kit and the shop. Some will charge more than others, but most kits require a full 8+hrs install time. You don't need a car lift to install a lift kit.. Some good jack stands and a floor jack should be adequate (Along with a decent compliment of tools). I know skyjacker posts instructions on their site so you could see exactly what is required.

you could get f150 coil spacers and shackles and that would bring you close to 2 inches

after looking at all my options i am now considering a 2-3 inch body lift the only reason i am hesitant about the body lift is the gap between the body and the bumpers. can this problem be fixed easily

for 1st gen explorers, it should come with bumper brackets to raise both bumpers.

do shackles and coil spacers it's 50-60 bucks for the shackles (WAR153) and 40 bucks for the coil spacers (F-150 Coil Spacers:F2TZ-5A307-A and F2TZ-5A307-B) then 18 bucks for each camber shim (Moog 2.75 camber shim: K8983 two of these)

It's really easy to do yourself or you can take it to a shop, and I'm sure they wouldn't charge that much. If the 2 inch lift you're wanting to install involves getting rid of all the rivets then that's what's making it cost so much.

what would i be most happy with shackles and coil spacers or body lift. does any one have a pic of an explorer with shackles and coil spacers or with a body lift of 2-3 inches

by the way con seann3ry where do these part numbers go to dealer or a website if so which one

the F-150 spacers are ford dealership part numbers, the camber shims are in stock at car quest for sure and the shackles I think any 4x4 shop should be able to get. If you check my cardomain (check my sig) the pictures on the front are with the coil spacers and shackles (I actually have James Duff shackles but the warriors are just as good)

con seann3ry do you have any pictures of your explorer not on the trail
from the looks of it you have the same exact explorer except mine is 2wd

Nope, I don't have any that aren't on the trail :( - If I get a chance in the next few days I'll snap a few pics. I didn't know yours was 2wd...that might change the installation of the f150 spacers - I know it changes the part number of the camber shim at least...you should find a member on this board that has done f150 spacers on their 2wd to find out what you need to make it work

Man it cost me $1100 for a 4 inch lift installed and everything. It was the rough country kit. the kit ran around $700 and install the rest. I love the lift. I also have a 3inch body lift. the body list cost $115 and install was $300. No gaps really for the frame and fender wells. Bumber brackets were included but i only used the rear ones b/c i have james duff front bumper. they worked well in the rear though.

i think im gonna go with a 3 inch lift for now it seems to be the best choice and get 31s on 15 by 8
