Will the need for new shocks make the truck handle any differently or make any strange noises while turning? My truck has this strange rubbing noise when ever I drive. At first it was slightly loud. I could hear with the windows down. The other day I sprayed the brakes down really well with water, to make sure there wasn't any rocks stuck. The noise went away. However, today I heard it but only when I drove near something. I was hearing the echo off the surrounding objects. I did a new brake job about 100 miles back and when I went for my inspection this week, they said I needed new shocks. I know poor shocks will cause bouncing but what about these other symptoms? I know other people (including myself) thought it could be the CV joint but the noise, at times, has faded.

i would check the wheel bearings, they kind of make a slight grinding sound, kind of like noisy tires at first, than get worse, but on a rainy day , or as you did spraying water on the hub assembly , the noise could go away a bit,
but it will come back ,

What you are describing seems about right. It sounds like rubbing your hands together for a split second and it happens every time the wheel turns. The noise increases as my mph increase. It is kind of like when kids put the playing cards on their bike to make it sound like a motorcycle. Only the noise doesn't happen that fast or NEARLY as loud

Hopefully it is the bearings. Much cheaper than a CV joint replacement... i hope

i hope so too, it is cheaper, but if it is a wheel bearing get a good one, not a cheap one, will last a long time,, i have over 120,000 km on 1 in my Ex now,
and no problems,

Is there a way to check without taking everything apart. Not sure if this is checking the bearings or not but I saw something about putting the truck on a jack and pushing the top of the tire. If it pushes in, the bearings (or what ever part this is meant to check) is bad.

yes , you jack the Ex up in the front on each side , than grab the wheel at 6 and 12 , and try to rock it top to bottom , if it has play , it's bad, pull out on the bottom and push at the top at the same time,
than do the opposite,
