My dad just bought a 1993 Ranger 4.0 auto 4x4 axle code shows 3.27 open gears. 1st What is the towing rating on the set up. I know the 3.27 isnt exactly a towing gear. Most of what he will be towing is a boat that weighs in around 2800 lbs including trailer. 2nd. The power window on the pass side stopped working a few days after he got it. The interior dome light and radio dont work, all the fuses are good I checked and replaced them with new ones just in case. 3rd. The 4x4 seems to work OK as long as you are going forward but when in reverse it seems to kick out when under pressure. It has auto hubs on it so I dont know if this is normal for them (other than the Explorer everything I have has manual hubs). Sorry for so many things at once but my dad is one of those that does good do pull the right dip stick when checking oil. Which means I have another patient when it gets sick.

My book states reg cab-3900lbs, reg cab(splash model)-3800lbs, and super cab-3600lbs.
So 2800lbs shouldnt be a problem.

The window motor is probably shot or on its way. I replaced my pass. side about a year ago and now my driver side is going out.

Dome light-check bulb if havent already. Than check wires for light and radio. possibly the fuse on back of radio if its aftermarket. Not sure if stock has one or not.

Auto hubs- Take apart, inspect and clean. Clean using the post on here about cleaning auto hubs with trans fluid.

As always report back with findings good luck.

Thanks ranger I will check it a little more the next time it is in my hands, which I doubt will be long. I checked all the fuses and the bulb for the dome light. I looked under the dash while I was checking fuses and saw that the last owner has for some reason run a wire for the brake light switch straight to the fuse box. So that is just one more thing to add to the list. Luckly he is a truck driver so I will have it more than he does. Maybe its not so lucky on the other hand. Will keep you informed on my findings
