Cowl induction? Ranger vs. Explorer

Hey all I was trolling around trs and found a pretty intersting write up on how to build a "cowl induction intake". I'm just curious if this can be done to an explorer? I've never had my fender off so I honestly dont' know. Anyway...is this possible to do on an expo?

i dont know how first gens are set up but that write up could be followed word for word on a second gen. btw, thats a snorkel not cowl induction

Do a search for Redneck Engineeing Inc. I think that way is better than the Way on the ranger station.......
