THe cover on my wife's console lid is cracking and falling apart. Anyone ever use on of those Ebay recover kits? Do they work? How hard to install?

Thanks
Pete

i took the thing apart, ironed the old cover flat and traced it out on some denim from old jeans. you could use any fabric, i didnt have a staple gun to re-attach so i laced it underneath befor i put the plastic cover back on the bottom. i think there is a metal one on ebay i'd go for that.

free fix, plus i have a butt pocket on the lid that keeps emergency cash, insurance, reg, etc...

i'll try to get a pic of mine up. the only problem i had was there was one screw that stripped that during reassembly because it was next to the fat seam of the denim, i should have took the seam apart but i didnt. overall the fit turned out good, and i havent had it pull out yet.

i've started a photo album, i have a pic a lid in there, sorry it took me so long.

The ebay kit is great! You will have fine results while spending way less time , since it is pre cut with instructions. I have been know to "cheap out" , but still recommend the ebay kit after using 2 of them.
Another reason I like the kit, is, it is a good idea on the ebayers part, and, he did enough leg work to justify his price. To me it is a good ebay deal.

+1 I used it on my older 99 I had and just reordered another one... It was 15 minute deal at my kitchen table... end result was one wrinkle in the front (my fault) but very nice material and matched ALMOST perfect.... again not his fault my int was slightly faded/dirty/muddy :)

I need to recover my console lid also, which Ebay kit did you guys use? There are a couple different sellers...

When mine cracked, I posted that I needed a new(used ) one in the For Sale/Wanted section, and purchased an almost new one from a member at a very reasonable price.

Good luck ......

Just found this thread- my repair kits are guaranteed to work and they are cheaper than the ones on ebay, found at www.RiptAuto.com!

I took mine to an auto upholstery place. They charged me $30 for new vinyl and the work

I recovered my own for less then $5.00 just went to walmart got the fabric I needed, and trimmed it, and recovered the top half, it was fairly simple. They have all kinds and shades of fabric even vinyl. To I chose to do mine in black rather then grey, cause I liked the 2 tone look.

Andy's does match perfectly though, if anyone is really specific and wants a true OEM look- great seller, great product...

Thank you Joe, my materials are higher quality than the Walmart fabric, and I have gone through more than 500 samples to get the best match possible!

RIPT USA, I just tried to order from your site and couldn't get the "Terms of Service" to display. It gave me some sort of error message that something hasn't been set up. I processed the order anyway. Please confirm that you do not share any of my information with anyone.

Thanks!

I am very sorry for not seeing this post! I will subscribe so that I am notified by email of a post.

I do not share any information with anyone! I believe there was a small bug on the website which should be fixed now. I will go on and order as a guest to try it out.

This product is how I make a living and I hope I receive some forum support from it! I think by providing the instructional video, matching fabric (I also have genuine cowhide leather available), pre-cut fabric, and the ability to skip the WalMart trip, this kit is well worth it!

Apologies for the slow feedback! This kit has been for over a year now with now problems or complaints!

The plastic for my lid seemed harder when I stapled it and had a few pieces chipped off. I should have followed your technique closer at the corners as I struggled with my 'not knowing what I was doing' technique. But after installation none of this was noticeable.

I'd definitely buy from you again if I needed to! Thanks!
