- 2004 Sport Trac XLT
I just bought a 2004 sport trac to haul my kids to all of there many practices and for just basic commuting to try to save a little money on fuel in my fuel loving 6.4 diesel super duty and keep the miles down on it. With that being said the cruise control buttons where all busted up so I ordered a set on Amorim to replace them. Straight forward install but still no cruise control. After doing a little research there is a cruise control pressure brake switch/sensor mounted on top of the brake master cylinder. I unplugged the connector and tested for ohms between the two prongs on the switch and I had nothing. I unscrews the switch/sensor and tapped it on a hard surface to get some of the brake fluid out of the switch and I rechecked for ohms and now it was zeroing out I had ohms. The switch was stuck open telling the cruise control system that the brakes where being applied and in turn not allowing the cruise control to turn on. I screwed the switch back in and now it’s working. I hope this helps for someone that may in counter my same problem.
