cv axle in the front or rear?

i'm told i might need to get a new cv axle... was wondering is that in the front or the rear of a 2wd sport trac 01? and will i need an alignment afterwards?

2001 2wd sport trac has a solid rear axle no C/V joints

only way to have CV axels on this truck (01-05) is to be 4WD
