Mine is a V6 but had the same problem and the dealer replaced the tensioner and belt on warranty as per a TSB. It has to be something else that spins. Alternator? Or else it just doesn't like the friggen' frigid weather in Canuckistan.

Sounds to me like it could be a chain tensioner. Can you tell if it is coming from behind the timing cover? What weight of oil are you running? :us:

If it's a "tinny" sound, then something sheet metal is probably making the noise, no? I'd check the heat shielding on your exhaust system and see if something is loose or hanging. Maybe something else is loose and hitting the shielding.
Also, could it be the ever present exhaust leak that all ST's seem to have? Mine makes the clicking noise for about 20-30 seconds every time I cold start. Once warm, the noise goes away...

thnx, i will try and find a exhaust leak.mine is also like a clicking noise for about the sam etime.i have not tried a stethascope to pinpoint it. i have found it on the frt rt side of engine tho. will let you know, mite be awhile tho, we are digging out of the worst snow storm i have seen for many years and im 75. bye

Hey rocket10,

It sounds like it's something your dealer should get a look at! :) Have you been able to make an appointment with them?

Bianca
