D30 vs. D44

Some of you already beat me to it - no one was considering weight at first. And I'll bet yours weighs well over 5,000lbs with full trail gear. Mine weighs a whole lot more than that when loaded for the trail, and with a passenger aboard I'm probably over three tons.

When supporting testimonies for D30 state things like "only broken axles twice" on a vehicle that weighs about a ton less than yours does, that alone would make my decision. You're like me; you have to drive awhile to get to good trails, and if you do go D30 then you'll have to budget some extra axles to take with you and/or a trailer to haul it with. That sounds like more than the price of wheels to me.

I had a D30 and now have a D44, like everyone said even if you don't break shafts all the time, i was replacing wheel bearings every year, at $100 a piece that gets expensive. I did break at least 1 shaft every trip at the 27 spline neck down and steering setups are $$$ on a D30

My truck unloaded weighs 4527lbs (with the 3/4 ton axles) and its only a Sport
