don't even feel like finishing it anymore. im sick of it. i don't know where all this stuff goes. and i don't know whats up with these goddamn valve cover gaskets. i don't know who the hell designed them but they make no ******* sense! and the torque spec for them is 80-106 in/pd = 6.6-8.8 ft/pd but still i cracked the fnikucg valve cover!!!!!

i have a haynes, its the first time i'veused a haynes manual, but it really doesn't help to much. im dissapointed in it. the only decent pictures in it is for the n/a 3.8, not the sc version.

well i noticed that i didn't put the intake manifold gasket on right, so i need to take that back off again i'll be working on it monday morning and should get some better progress.

monday i'll take the intake manifold off and place the two little peices in right (and use rtv this time) and hopefuly get the alt/ac/power steering bolted on. and find out where most of the hoses in the back of the engine go. then all i need is to bolt the supercharger/throttle body on and the intercooler hoses on and im good to go

huh the temp tag expires 12/31

was gonna pull the headers tommorrow and the intake and the chip and try to get smog done tommorrow afternoon or monday AM and get to the DMV Monday hopefully to get the Plates and tags.

yea but your headers had the exemption tag on em right?

mine are smog legal but the tag fell off so i don't think it will fly

honestly on mine, i don't think you can tell. it just looks stock. obviously someone from the board would know its not stock, but other people probably think it is. yeah i have that little tag. although mine are only legal for 92 and up, and mine is a 91 :

I might give it a shot, mine are the same way since i think we both have hedman's

i just have to removed the EGR setup and put the correct upper intake back on and put the MAF/airbox back in it and pull the chip and see what happens.

when i did mine, i had the guy pre-test it since i wasn't sure if it would pass. he pre tested it and said it was good, then he siad he wasn't gonna even charge me for the pre test. but my gas cap didn't pass, so i had to walk across the street to get a new one.

if i you haven't gone yet, i have bad news for you since december first, i think, any car pre-1995 has to have the fuel system pressure checked. which means they put nitrogen into your tank adn through the system. and thats an additional charge on top of the smog check fee. cost me like $45 i think. but go with a full tank of gas to be cheaper (he said) so they don't have to use as much nitrogen

Well it good news....and bad news

The BAD
X failed smog check
was missing the hot air tube from the air box to the header
and i think it has bad catalytic Converter NOX was sky high on this thing.
and oh yea it's a gross polluter now


The GOOD
My X passed that new gas tank/evap test the first time
Smog tech did'nt say a damn thing about the headers
cause of the failure i got an automatic extension for another 60 days
on the temp operating permit


and of course i got told that would be the last one..

now i need to wait till i have a bit more cash so i can take it in and see what's up with it.

other than that it did alot better than i thought it would so i guess there hope after all

49.95 for the whole shebang
get a free retest

then 8.25 for cert when i do pass
plus some EF fee 1.75 when i pass also

so it will be 59.95 for the smog when i get it to pass

and NO extra charge for that new test
