Dealer Installed MFT Update

I decided to make a new thread for this. Maybe collectively we can figure this out. On the Facebook page the Ford rep said the following:

Ford Explorer Sorry everyone - I am now being told that certain early build Explorers will need to go to the dealer for the update. I'm trying to confirm exactly which ones, and why. The dealer fees information is incorrect, and has been removed from SyncMy Ride. Craig

Please reply and post when your Explorer was built, whether or not you have Nav, and whether or not syncmyride.com says you need to go to the dealer.

I have and XLT built in mid March 2011 with Nav and Syncmyride.com says I need to go to the dealer to update.

I have a 2011 Limited with Nav built Feb. 24, 2011 and Syncmyride.com says I need to go to the dealer to update.
I'm still running the original V2.4

I got 2.11 updated at the dealer. I originally had 2.8 installed at the factory. My Ex. was built the same week as yours.

I had 2.7 from the factory and got the 2.11 update at the dealer. I had to take it back twice because they didn't get the software for Sync Services and another piece loaded the first time.

So maybe it has something to do with the build date or updating to 2.11 at the dealer??

My wife's Edge was built in Dec. 2010 and Syncmyride shows her upgrade is being mailed.

mine is 2011 ltd with nav built 1/26/11 and have had dealer installs before... syncmyride says dealer needs to install this update....

It almost appears that those with early models are being instructed to have the dealer install the update while those with the later models are to receive theirs in the mail.
Anyway, I printed out the form from syncmyride as per the instructions and will take it to the dealer when I schedule an appointment to have the OEM wheels put back on at the end of the month.

I received a letter in the mail from ford stating that my usb and SD card would be mailed to me. My build date was 4 Jan 11. One of the early ones.



I have to get the wheels put back on as well. Temps here on the east coast are going into the mid teens for the next two weeks. I might have them put on next week. My all seasons should be good enough to get me through the last couple of weeks.

I logged into syncmyride and I had the option to download the file myself. That's what I'm doing at the moment and I'm going to install it tomorrow.

Mine was built in April, 2011 - and Syncmyride says I'm "Gen2 v2.11" and it wants me to print the form. No choice for a download.

Pity as I have a 2 hour road trip this morning and could just plug it in and let it do its thing while on the road.

I'm interested in what who has the earliest build date that lets them download the update from home. From what people have posted here so far, everyone here with a build date April 2011 and earlier have to go into the dealer.

I hope some with May 2011 build dates will let us know what their syncmyride.com account says.

I just called the 800 number and they said eventually everyone will receive the USB in the mail. It will just take a number of weeks. So perhaps it will eventually change from "bring to the dealer" to "package is the the mail" - hopefully!

Does it actually say "package is in the mail" on some people's syncmyride account?

My '11 was built the first week in May, 2011. No NAV. It shipped with 2.8, and I upgraded it myself to 2.11. I was able to download the Performance Upgrade from SyncMyRide and install it on Thursday.

Well unfortunately they are not all in the mail. I did the update myself, but figured I would call to make sure they have my correct mailing addy. Well......I was told my nav and update cards were not sent out yet. I was told it won't be sent out until the 3rd week of March. Oh well, at least I have the new update, just wish I had my nav back.

I have an earlier build date - sorry not sure exactly what it is, but I purchased my car Feb. 2011. I'm still running v2.4.
