difference in 96 and 98 upper intake

Does anyone know?

The 96 upper intake has one vacum line coming fromt he front and it goes into a split connector, one to the side goes to the passenger side to the vacum storage container and I'm not sure where the other side goes but it is to the drivers side fender area.

The 98 upper intake has 3 vacum lines. One large one that is exactly like the one on the 96 and two additional smaller ones that I don't remember where they went.

Anybody know where those other 2 go?

Hmmm--Do you already have the egr-fuel pressure-bypass vacuum source connected?
I'm kinda cornfused here as to which lines you are referring to, as I seem to remember 2 large lines joining together for the brake booster---

The brake booster comes from the back of the intake. So is the EGR/Fuel pressure line and what not.

These are coming from the front-middle-undereath.

Yeah--there are 2 --5/16" or so coolant lines pointing forward on the upper intake--

connect a hose to one-blow into it and see if you get positive pressure from the other--

Very easy to tell if they are coolant lines or not. Hook em up to your coolant rail, start the engine and if it hydrolocks in a few seconds then you know they weren't coolant lines.

Thanks rocket, that helps a bunch. Those are indeed the coolant lines that I am talking about. Now, which one are you talking about by front and rear? There are a left and right. The left one is slightly higher and goes to the water pump, the right one goes to the lower intake. Or does it even matter, one in and one out?

It doesn't really matter which way the coolant flows through the intake. The front and rear labeling is because that is how the lines attach to the coolant rail on the top passenger side of the engine. There are two nipples right nxt to each other on the 98's and one is slightly in front of the other. I just did that for purpose of being thorough with my labeling.

Great! I know what you are talking about, I used the 98 coolant rail. The 96 had similar coolant lines running to the EGR valve in the back, they must have decided to put them in the front since the EGR is internal for 98+ engines.

Hehe. I took a picture of Jim's intake and it didn't turn out right. I think I ganked it off of the site and then labeled from there so I would not forget what went where. The picture with his TF intake labeling I actually did take. By that time I did get the camera working.
