this is probably a stupid question.. but my 91 4dr had 4 leaf rear springs... my 93 sport though only has 3 leafs.. im guessin that 4drs had the extra leaf to help with the heavier load. any ideas on what puttin the 4 leafs on my sport would do such as height, or would it be easier, better to just go with an add a leaf? oh, and do those 2" leveling front coils actually make the truck noticeable taller?

4 leafs from all the 1st and 2nd generation 4 door Explorers will bolt in perfectly on Sports in the same generations, replacing the substandard monoleafs. Sag will be a thing of the past if you get decent replacements. Don't be afraid to hit a junkyard. I put springs from a '96 4 door on my '00 Sport and it makes a huge difference.

You'll get a LOT better info if you use the SEARCH function. There are MANY threads in the archives already discussing this very common mod.

I used springs with the "F" code. I think that's what you'd require as well.

You can grab them from second gens too. They're all basically the same. Different codes are different springs though. Code F are the later models and I believe it was code U for the first gens. Code L are monoleafs for sure though. There have been a few lists describing the rankings on the springs, but there are a few variations. The bigger leafs don't really do anything more than bring it back up the the level it's suppose to be, won't get any real "lift" out of it.
