Due to a bad pinion gear and rusted out axle end which makes the seal leak I opted to replace the axle. First one delivered by the salvage yard had chocolate milk in place of diff fluid and loads of rust. The second is in a lot better condition. When I opened it up I noticed that there is no differential clutch spring. Did they send me the wrong one? My door code is D4 and I gave them the VIN.

You'll need to check to see if there are clutches inside the drive gears. The spring isn't absolutely necessary for function, it just keeps a load on the drive gears and clutches when you're not on the power.
