My 93 xlt started, then the next day, it wouldn't fire. i can still pull codes, so i dont think its the eec relay, and i did the paper clip in the fuel pump relay and it still didnt prime or start. so i think i need a new fuel pump, any other things to check?

oh and on the fuel pump turn off switch, the red button should be down correct?

The fuel pump is probably the most expensive and difficult part to replace. If it were me, I'd get a wiring diagram and a voltmeter and thoroughly check the fuel pump circuit before deciding the pump was bad.

i didnt change the relays, i can pull codes, so i figue the eec one is good, and i bypassed the fuel pump relay, and it still didnt work.

When my pump went it would start like it was going to turn over but never did. It cost me $360 to replace . OUCH

That byu itself doesn't really test the fuel pump circuit, and, as I said, the fuel pump is the most expensive part, so I would try to be sure the circuit was intact before replacing the pump.

With a voltmeter, do you have power to the relay? Is the fuse good? Do you have power to the fuse? If you ground the fuel pump test lead in the self-test connector, is the fuel pump relay closing? Do you have power to the inertia switch and at the fuel pump connector (I can access the fuel pump connector above the rear axle in the driver's frame rail)? Don't forget to check the ground. Once you know the pump has power and a good ground and isn't running, then you are more justified in saying the pump is bad.
