If you are running all of this off of the stock head unit, I would probably say no. But that is my opinion, you will have to put the speakers in and find out for yourself if you like it or not. The stock HU wont push out enough power to distort the bass or anything like that. If you don't want to get bass out of the fronts, then put them in.

I put bass blockers on both my front and rear speakers and you still get some good bass frequencies but the frequencies you cut out are adequately made up for with the sub.

Doh! I forgot to mention that I have a Blaupukt RPD 555 HU with 220 Watts RMS.

Even with that HU it won't push out enough power to damage anything. The HU does not put out 220 Watts RMS. That's peak. Most HU's push out somewhere between 10-20 Watts RMS. I couldn't find the specs on the Sony's, but the Kenwoods can handle 120 Watts peak, so like around 50-60 Watts RMS. I don't have bass blockers on my system and I am completely aftermarket. So put the speakers in and find out for yourself.

Thank you Shadow2AJ. I thought RMS was the same as peak. I will put this speakers in this weekend w/o the bass blockers. The SONY's are 140w peak so they are right with the Kenwood's.
Thank You everyone for your help. I saved my self $25:)

i totally agree. bass blockers have a horrible rolloff. they also dont stand up to heat or power (anything more than a headunit) very well. the only speaker that they actually might make an improvement on is a low powered 4" or smaller speaker.

The only thing i would use them for is to help keep from damaging factory speakers.
