I installed a pair of Pioneer 6x8 in my front door speakers and they dont sound too bad but they sound like i need to take some bass out of them. They are being powered by my Pioneer DEH2600 HU(50wx4,22wRms). Which bass blockers should I xover at. I'm getting a hard to describe sound like a pla-anggg or rattle sound when turned up. May also dymatt the side of the door panel too I'm also thinking about replacing my rears also.

I installed some 12" Infinity Subs and they sound ok, but I don't think I have a good seal & they both are sharing the same air space, sounds like they may be bottoming out. They aren't hitting as hard as I'd like. think I'm going to put them in another box that I think is more to spec for them and silicon around the sub rings. Also going to get a mono amp and run them parrallel and take them down to 2 ohms and get rid of this old Profile Amp,which had my orions hitting but I'm not sure if it's 2ohm stable, plus I want a new amp :). I read somewhere on here about plugging the air hole on the back of the sub magnet is this a no no, does it help or is this it really matter?

I got the system in and a portable dvd player and a 7"WS installed below the radio with a rigged up mount. I need to take some picts :)

Thanks for the replies

do not plug it..from the subs i have had that happen to they sound like they are blown..

You would probably be best using a HPF of about 120hz for that application. HOWEVER bass blockers are nothing more than a capacitor wired in on the positive side of the speaker. This is only a 6db crossover point and a lot of the unwanted bass would still leak through. Your best bet is to find a set of 12db per octave 120hz high pass corssover networks. Or just make them yourself. All you need is a 6.8mh coil wired in parrallel and a 200uf capacitor, wired in series. For less than $15 for BOTH sides you have a great crossover network.

i used to have bass blockers in my grand am...didnt do much but make em sound like SHYT....they were stingers....

Ok thanks guys maybe I'll just do with out the xover..guess the smart to do hindsight being 20/20 I shouldve went with componets, maybe I'll buy a set instead of getting 6x8 for the rears and put the ones in the front in the back....Going to take the door panels back off and probably put some polyfill in the doors and dynomat up the panels for now...

Probably put the subs in the other box I have later this week alone with a new amp

Thanks
