Do you think i am going to big?

Hey guys I have a question. I have a 1994 ford explorer limited and i am about to lift it? I say go big or go home and i was going to do a 6 inch suspension lift, 3 inch body lift and 35's. What do you think should i go smaller?

ok well I guess you got my point, I think that the bigger the better in fact I am planning on running the coil spacers and the warrior shackles along with the 6" skyjacker and I have a 3" body lift too. You can never go too big in my eyes!

yep, you can never go to big. You know the bigger you go the more you are going to have people drool all over your hood, so go for it man, don't let any body limit you. Good luck. Be sure to post pics.

Go with 35's if you have 4.56 gears, I wouldn't go any bigger than 33" if you have 4.10 or lower.

RFR2212 has a 9" lift and his 35's rubbed. It looks better with 33's anyway.

Riffman has a straight axel conversion with 36's and the rub a bit at full flex.

No way to tell unless you do it, but you'll definitely have to regear.

I say go even bigger... If I were you I would go with some 44's..
That will be my next tire size, after I lift it a little more..

Go big or don't go at all.

Oh and by the way, don't listen to people when they tell you about going with lower gears.. I say go with a bigger engine. I only have 4.10 gears and I can roast the tires in high range.

if u wanted to go really big with ifs u could get cut and turned ttb's 4",drop brackets 6" and top it off with some 12 inch lift coils and a 3 inch body lift

4" cut and turned i beams
6" drop brackets
12" coils
3 inch body lift


15 inches of lift with a ifs it could be done

Hi all,

Cmartin91 - I don't believe that your lift would work because your camber would be all messed up, and why would you go trough all the hastle of keeping your IFS when it would cost about the same to get a straight axle conversion. What kinda tire would you run with 15 inches of lift on IFS, and do you think that the Dana 35 would be able to hadle it.

hell i am not going to do it can u imagine how long the d35 would hold up to 42's..........my truck sit's hight enough 7" it's perfect for the weekend warrior btw Oknut your camber would be alignable because a cut and turn ttb doesn't affect that neither does drop brackets the only thing that would make them \ / is becuase u would use a coil that is 2" longer than what everything is setup for but a alignment shim would do the trick

it doesn't matter who is the BIG dog.. Because there's always gonna be someone bigger. All that matters is that you get out there and 4x4.

I still think it would be nuts to lift an explorer 15 inches and having the stock IFS.. what kinda tires would you run ? I could understand if someone got a dana 44 IFS and did it. but not a dana 35. I'm looking to upgrade to a dana 60 front end and some 44's. I started out with 44's went to 42's and now I want the 44's back. What's cool about my setup is that I can add as much lift as I want to. Let's say I wanted 8 more inches of lift. all I would have to buy are two set's of leaf springs and wola I would have two feet of lift. Not that I would ever do that.

hey man i would never mess with an IFS that would be stupid i just don't have any plans on doing a solid axle .......it's my daily driver 3+ to 4 rated trails is all the x gets and the d35 has done alright my flatfender is for the 5+ and in that i am strating to think that the dana 44's are to weak now i want some RC60

Your right dana 44's are weak and I want a dana 60 also. First i'm gonna get some traction bars for the front and the rear. If that doesn't do the trick, then the only option is a dana 60, with that you ever break. I was gonna spend a lot of money on arma coating the entire expo, but now I think i'm gonna spend all that money on other cool S#$%..

i just wish i had the money for a set of RC60s but when i do it i will most likely go with a RC60 for the rear and a RC44

I'm really curious on what kind of leaf springs you used in the front of your rig? I'll be doing a swap here soon and I want to do a leaf sprung set up on it but I don't know what springs to use.
