Doing a Brake job tommarow

that is what every shop or dealer will do for any brake job... they will never just replace pads and not machine rotors..

I know shops and dealers do it every brake job; but in many cases machining is not necessary, but they often do it any way, for the reasons mentioned by you, I'm sure...

Plus after they've machined them 2 or 3 times, they can sell a customer new rotors, bearings, wheel seals, the works--which means more $$$ for them.

There's no need to machine a set of rotors unless you're getting vibration.

Brake pads are extremely important. If you care about your life, noise, brake dust, or longevity, don't be cheap about $10-30. If you know what you are doing, then buy the best that you have discovered.

If you are a novice at brakes, don't listen to any recommendation, except this:

Buy factory manufacturer's pads. They are the baseline to compare to everything else. They were waranteed to start with. The manufacturer has massive liability to you the owner, compared to any aftermarket company. No matter the vehicle, manufacturer's pads are all excellent.

Wait till you have more first hand knowledge, before you start guessing about something so important. Good luck,
GOOD ADVICE BRO...Does autozone or summit sell motorcraft brake pads...Do u happen to know the part number if not ill try to call tommarow...this brake job is getting pushed to next weekend..grr...

just buy what ever you are comfortable with.. if you want to spend $60.00 on something where $2500 will be sufficient. than that is all your decision..
In the end it is coming out of your pocket. So Goood Luck..

Brownpsu78, is that a fastback 69 Mustang? I'll do the brakes for you if you sell me the other toy? I miised out on a friend's white/blue 69 for $1000, about fifteen years ago. He needed money fast, and I couldn't think fast enough before he sold it to some Toyota salesman. Best of luck,
