Doing Body Lift Today -- Any tips?

Still working. Having an issue with the steering shaft -- it doesn't want to seem to let go. I used some rubber strap pipe "wrenches" and with two guys, didn't budge. Put a small crack in the plastic like Sheath, hope thats not too important.

Once I get that freed, I'm getting ready to jack up the right side and put the spacers in, I'll get pictures up soon

It is just a cover. Not a biggie at all.

After you get the bolt out, stick a screwdriver in the crack and pry it apart a bit. Than the shaft will separate into 2 pcs. The bolt pinches the metal together.

ok was told you need a bit of help, yes the steering shaft can be fun. first grab a pair of vice grips.

put them on in these locations, in a way that you can hold one and brace the other with your elbow. tap the bottom one, then the top till it comes apart. dont scared to give it a bit of love.

New to Site

Hi there:

Im new to this site and just wanted to throw out a newbie question. I own a 1996 Explorer Sport. Hopefully this summer I plan to do some mods to it, mainly for looks, I dont plan on going off-roading with it. Ive read probably every thread on body lifts and such and was just hoping if someone could explain it nice and clear. From what I understand Ill be adding Warrior Shackles and/or add-a-leaf to the rear. In the front, from what I understand of it, a TT. This will give me 2 inches of lift about. From there Im supposed to get a PA BL kit for a ford ranger, Im not sure of what number but this will give me three more inches of lift. This is the understanding Ive acquired but Im really just overwhelmed with the info and was hoping someone could tell me if Ive got it down and lead me on how to do it properly. Thanks a lot.

the TT and Shackle lift will give you about 1 1/2 - 2 inches of suspension lift and the PA 853 (Some one correct me if im wrong on the part number) BL will give you another 3 inches of Body Lift. So all in all you will roughly 4-5 inches of lift when your done. I used lift shackles from Autozone and actually gained 2.5 inches in the rear and had to re-adjust my TT 2 times to get it to settle at 1.75 in the front. I have been thinking about doing the BL my self but like has been mentioned make sure you have access to all the tools you need bacause it appears to be more involved then most people think.

Thanks a lot man. I am definitely going to start out with the shackle and TT because I wanna stick some new tires under my truck. In regards to the TT, would you say it was fairly simple to do?

its very easy to SEARCH for torsion twist

You are hijacking this thread!! seriously the TT is covered with pics, one million times, search it out!!

I know that there are a lot of threads about the TT. Ive found them. But thats now what I asked alright. I simply asked him his opinion on doing it, NOT how he did it.

search will also take you to opinions about how easy it was

I am not trying to be a jerk, I am trying to look out for the thread starter here, to keep his thread on track...

torsion twist is one of the most discussed topics on this forum!!

Just FYI if you have a jack, a 13mm socket and about 3 minutes, you can do it, but then you might run out of adjustment on the drivers side and need new bolts
2wd's can get 3-5" of lift from a TT, depending on how crappy of a ride you like

But you see all this is discussed in detail, a million times, and you can find it all by using the SEARCH or you can start a new thread to ask your questions!

Remember I am TRYING TO HELP

I wanna know how this ends!

I need to see pics!

very easy, took me a total of about 45 mins to do the TT and to install the shackles. The TT is just a matter of tightening 2 bolts lol cant get much easier :D just remember to lift the front end upwhere the tires are just off the ground.....

Now back to the Thread topic lol

So what is the progress on your Body lift? Is it finished yet?!? I want pics of it dang it lol.
