Good Morning Everyone...

My Ford 2002 Explorer with 03/08/2002 manufacture date is having problems. I have read many of the wonderful posts on the same problems (listed below).... and will be using them for guidance, especially how to take the driver door panel off to inspect the wires.

My husband and I will look for a broken wire in the panel door, but with our busy lives, we can't get to it right away. I also ordered a new Central Security Module, which according to the shop manuals, seems to be a common link to all the failures. If we have no broken wires, I'll swap out the CSM.

Here are the problems:

It is very annoying to have the "door ajar" light come on while driving, and the audible alarm (indicating the keys are in the ignition) going off haphazardly while driving.... scares the crap out of me sometimes. :(

I've done the WD-40 spraying of the door latches... twice, with no improvement. But now, while the vehicle is standing still, with no one near it, the burglar alarm (beeping horn) activates. One of these times, I couldn't get the thing to shut off, even though I was pressing the "horn button" on the keyless entry keybob. I figured out that I can no longer lock the doors, as the horn alarm will go off whenever it feels like. When the vehicle is not locked, the vehicle haphazardly turns on it's puddle lights and dome light. This went on, I guess for a couple days. Ended up with dead battery.

Charged battery... and the problems all started up again. The vehicle got accidentally locked last night, and lo and behold, the horn alarm went off during the night. So much for a good night's sleep. grrrrrr Try finding the keys in the middle of the night, after being awakened by a beeping car alarm. Not fun.

Also the keypad entry lock is no longer working on my Explorer.

So..... referring to the shop manual for the 2002 Explorer, in the BJB, Fuse F1.2 and Fuse F1.25 both are identifed to the Central Security Module. Could I pull one or both of those fuses for the interim "peace of mind" without interfering with the actual drive-ability of the vehicle? I would love to be able to lock the Explorer, even if manually, just so I can drive it somewhere and be able to lock it and not have the alarms going off. Also, it would be nice to not have the "security lights' wearing down the battery. I have turned the dome lights off at the panel switch so those lights won't turn on.

Thanks so much for the assistance with this annoying problem.

Oh...second question.... does anyone know...for a 3/08/2002 Explorer, is the CSM located in the panel behind the rear passenger side door (as described in the shop manual), or is it under the dash (found references on the internet to this). I haven't been able to pinpoint that information yet.

Again... thanks
