go to a local parts store... they have special paint made for painting trim pieces restoring them to new look and finish... they also have prep directions on the can

They sell stuff called "black back" or something like that.
-a wipe on super liquid.

If you use a silicone type of tire shine, it works great on that stuff, as well as all your black trim/ mirror housings/bumper step, etc. Temporary gratification tho`.

I cleaned mine with paint thinner to remove any wax, and then applied a couple of coats of black primer, and then a few coats of Krylon gloss black. I sprayed them in March of this year, and haven't had any problems or fading yet.

ETR-II Kit

The ETR-II kit at www.autoint.com under BodyShop Products section.

Used by Hyundia and Mazda and Ford is having private labeled after first of the year.

This system holds up for three years plus and is not a dressing, goes on with sponges.

It is like a base coat/clear coat.

Mazda used it on 4,000 new B2000's (Ford Ranger), Hyundia put it through an accelerated weathering/UV test and it out lasted the factory finish.

Might be what you are looking for, as it also may be used on roof racks, pebble grained spoilers, etc.
