BTW, did you know that Pioneer made the two top option radios in the Ford 1998-01 models. The Mach and Premier radios with "RDS" on them are the best OEM radios Ford has put out. They are less likely to attract thieves. The Mach unit has five outputs, they need a display repair, and preouts can be installed.

All radio shops can provide adapters to mate any radio without cutting, plus install kits, etc. The radio remove/install tools are only a few dollars anywhere. Good luck,

I'm a car stereo newbie as well but since your HU only has preamp outputs, I think you will need an amp or 2 to power those speakers, whichever ones you choose. Why don't you call the guys in this link, they were extremely helpful to me.

If that is the deck you plan on purchasing.. It's 50x4 watts and the only speakers that can handle the output are the Rockford's. Make sure they will mount without any modifications, which will take more time, or run up the install price. Just because it's a 6x8 speaker doesn't mean it will automatically fit, some have bigger magnets than others and require some trimming to fit. If the deck has all the features you need, then that's all you really need. I had a Alpine 9833 CDA, and was very pleased with the high output power and excess of features it came with. They cost more, but the features and sound quality justified the price.

Actually it's 50x4 max.. So listen to all three of the speakers and see which sound YOU like the best. I'd go for the ones that had the best MID driver, to make the sound more full. Are you going to have these speakers connected to an amplifier?

what kind of speakers is everyone else running...and what kind of deck?...i really don't want to do any modifications because well..basically because i'm a 16 y/o that is just now learning...i also read somewhere on here that you don't have to use only 6x8s that you could put something else in there?....thanks for all the help

I'm using the Infinity Reference 6810cs component speakers. They have pretty good drivers, from what I can tell. They are connect directly to the head-unit (no amp), 50x4 max and I enjoy them. Check the "Killer Systems" thread. You will find alot of different set-ups, that may help you with your decisions. There are a few other threads with speaker installs that you may benifit from reading as well. Good luck
