Can anybody explain for sure what these DOT markings mean for General Grabber tire:

A3M1 175092, 175193, or 175082
or
A3UU 175062,

or maybe pointing me where I can find answer?

I know that first four letters and number mean manufacturer and plant, and that the rest is for type and date of manufactured but I'm not shure for date of manufactured (is that 2002 or 1992 or maybe even 1982)

I posted a topic to answer just this question quite a while ago. I posted it in the wheel and tire forum. A search here for "DOT codes" should pull it up.

I look there but its only explain something about Firestone Wildernes tires (from recall period)
I am looking for information for General Grabber R70 tires, or for General DOT codes

175092 - made in week 50 of 1992
175193 - made in week 51 of 1993
175082 - made in week 50 of 1982
175062 - made in week 50 of 1962

the 17 is the plant code.

I don't know what the A3M1 or A3UU means though. Found the info here.

I check the web site but something is wrong. I'm looking in 6 pieces of 235/70R15 General Grabber R 70 tires with next DOT codes:
A3M1 175092
A3M1 175193
A3M1 175193
A3M1 175082
A3UU 175062
A3UU 175062
with same patern, and tires was not driven yet.
It can't be that the same size and patern is manufactured from 1962 to 1993, or it can!!?
I'm asking becouse I'm affraid that these tires can be to old for driving??
That is why I need correct information for manufactured date.

Did you read this? http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125925 The Firestone tire I used there was just an example, and had nothing to do with the recall. DOT codes are pretty well standardized, so it doesn't matter (except for the manufacturer specific codes when present) which manufacturer.

A3 means they were made in Mt. Vernon Il.

Date of manufacture will be the last 3 or 4 digits (as noted in the above link, 4 digits was standard starting in the late '90's. prior to that you could have 3 digits). With that in mind, I would take the last three digits as the date code, and interpret them as being made in '93/'92, unless you have reason to believe those tires could really be as old as early '80's.
