DPFE sensor melted

Thanks for the tips. I figured it wasn't going to be much harder then a Taurus. First time took me about 3 to 4 hours, by the time I got rid of it I do it in about 1. Practice makes perfect and saves that $1. I know I got a estement from one shop for $300 to change the just the plugs didn't even include the wires. Ya I'm going to jump all over that. NOT!!!.

yeah, 300 does seem a little steep, but I guess that depends what type of plugs they were going to use.

I recommend sticking with OEM Motorcraft or Autolite (which makes the oem), those fancy more expensive plugs are rarely worth it, and in many cases just a marketing gimmick.

well we have a runner. I changed the plugs and wires #5 wire was toast, and with the gap on the old plugs (3/16) I don't know how this truck was running. It's running great now, just one more thing to do, I'm seeing some seepage around the bottom radiator hose, it's getting replaced asap. Does anybody know what the cooling system holds as far as how much antifreeze to water.

5.0L is 14.9L (about 4.0 gallons) total

4.0L VIN 'X' is 11.4L (about 3.0 gallons) total

4.0L VIN 'E' is 13.2L (about 3.5 gallons) total

Thanks I have the 4.0 VIN "X". So do I use 2 gal of antifreeze to 1 gal. of water or 50/50

usually when ive seen a melted dpfe, there is a larger prob, like plugged cats/exhaust/etc, the exhaust needs to find the easiest way out, hence youre dpfe sensor. there is no vacc on the dpfe hoses its exhaust back psi, most dealers have the sensor and the hose in stock ($50~ish for the sensor and a few bux for the hoses) if its running ok for now, id let it fly and see if the sensor/hoses hold out
