Drive belt indicator

I have done a lot of searching and couldnt find the answer to my question so forgive me if this is asked frequently.

I am trying to determine if my drive belt needs replacing (97 mounty 5.0 awd). The condition of my belt looks fine, but the tensioner has some sort of indicator that I assume tells you when to replace the belt. I can not figure out how to read the tensioner.

On the indicator, there is an arrow pointing clockwise toward a triangle marker. The triangle marker is lined up with the right edge (I assume the front edge because of the clockwise arrow) of the hole in the plastic marker on the outter edge of the indicator.

Does any of this make sense? How do you read the indicator? Do I need to replace my belt?

I have never heard of any such belt replacement indicator.

How old is the belt?

My 2000 4.0 sohc has the same type of tension indication. It has the triangle with three marks. I'm assuming the one in the middle is correctly tensioned and the ones to the side are either under or over tensioned.
