I was out tonight with my girl friend and i got jumped by these 3 kids and one of them shatterd my drivers side window. im new into mechanics ive done plenty of jobs to my explorer done brake lines, fuel lines, radiator , stuff like that just never had to do door glass before. wanted to know if i need in special tool and if someone could guide me through the process. i have a 1997 Ford explorer XLT.

You may need to drill out some rivets, but other than that it is fairy straight forward, remove bracketry from the broken window, clean up all the glass, and install new window. The rivets come into play if you need to remove the regulator or motor. I had to remove the motor on the donor truck because i had no way to power it, but if you buy the glass already pulled you shouldnt have to pull the motor on your truck. The only difficult part is getting the glass into the track.

Alright Thank you dude. never done it before just needed a clue what im dealin with. i was already lookin for a window for the 98 2d blazer i just bought a day ago. since the passenger window is shattered because someone shot it with a bb gun. wanted to know how hard it was gonna be.
