I have a 95 Explorer that I just recently purchased and it has KC Highlighter driving lights mounted on the brush guard. I don't know how many watts they are. The lights have two wires hanging from them. I assume one is the power and the other is a ground. The factory fog lights are not there but the wiring is still there. I tried running a two wires from the factory connectors over to the driving lights and they did not turn on. What if anything can I do to get them working? I have installed PIAA fogs on my 01' Yukon and it came with a lot of wiring and additional relays. I do not see anything like that on this car. It looks like it was never installed. Any suggestions on how to proceed from here to get them working?

Thanks,
Dave

Hey Dave,
I'd say you need to start with the O-N-O-F-F switch. Make sure with a voltmeter that when you engage that switch that you are getting 12v+ to the wires that will be going to the lights. Then put your meter on ohms and check for continuity of the bulbs...just to make sure they are good. (an easy way to check this is to apply the wires to the battery directly to make sure everything is working in the light....just like engines, either it's fuel or spark....in this case either bulb or juice. typically, kc's are either 55 or more typically 100watt, from what i've seen. there's also 130 and 150 watt versions,,,so check that out first, because they all draw a TON of juice. your stock wiring kit should work for the 55 watters, but you might want to relay them anyway, just to provide quality juice to them for the greatest possible candlepower. If you have questions on how to do this, i'll be happy to explain it. Good luck with the wiring and kudos for the quality lights!

John
