- '99 Explorer XLT
I know that there are a few threads on this already. I did look into a number of those threads. I've got a 99 Explorer XLT 5.0L V8 that i'd like to get dual exhaust installed, in the future. I don't see many 2nd generation explorers/mountaineers with dual exhaust. I want it for the look, sound, performance. This being the 2nd vehicle I have ever owned I'm not to well versed with cats and all the electronics. I had duals put on a 73 Ford Maverick That was very simple and easy. I guess the things I need are opinions and information regarding the routing of the pipes to exit out the back? getting rid of the cats or leaving them? and anything else you can think of. If getting rid of the cats is the thing to do, I don't know if the exhaust shop will do it because of legality reasons. Also, what do you think I'm looking at cost wise, I don't want to spend a fortune. On the Maverick I had duals put on it last year, I believe the cost was $225 + Mufflers.
