Dumb 02 sport question

Was changing shocks today on my 02 Sport with
manual trans and there is no 3rd locator shock on the back axle. The mount is there on the dif housing but nothing on the frame doesn't look like it's ever had one. Is it supposed to?

My 99 Sport does not have one..

In fact I believe only the 4 dr Explorers had that little 3rd rear shock...

I Wonder

Ya think this was fords idea to prevent the roll-over problem. A little third shock to dampen the high center of gravity?
