Hey, I'm getting a ton of rattles from my doors and I'm wondering what would be the best and easiest way to fix this? I know some people have used dynamat which is quite ($$) and some others have used foam. Which is the best stuff to use for the money and is the easiest? I would like to eliminate a lot of door rattle and what not. Thank you.

don't set your expectations too high, but yeah, either choice will keep your rattle down some, i would personally go with dynamat though :D

There is a thread on the midwest-explorers site which talks about the "poor mans dynamat" I used some of the stuff on rear wheel wells (and drove around without the plastic panels installed) and I noticed a definate noise reduction. At $15 for 15sq feet, its a good buy - but NOT as good as dynamat.

I'm probably gunna do my doors with it just because its cheap... and this stuff, if you do it, and it doesn't help, you can just put dynamat overtop of it.

btw, I lined all the rear plastic panels with dynamat (2 sides & hatch). Not the results I was expecting, but did reduce a few rattles, and subs sound slighting louder. I only did it because I got a deal on the dynamat, otherwise I do not think its worth it.

start w/ the cheap stuff, then get expensive.

wow-your post says one thing, yet your signature another
personally-i'd go with your signatures advice......

hahaha
Yes, well many people, including myself cannot afford the best. Whenever I can, I only buy the best, and 99% of the time that is the best way. But when reality strikes, many people cannot pay the $$$.

And Dynamat is expensive... Thats all there is to it.

We did a test dynamat extreme vs bquiet extreme there is a slight audiable difference. the dynamat being slightly superior yet about 4x the price. Although the bquiet doesnt have to be heated to be applied I personally highly recommend it.

i bought a roll of bquiet extreme for 120 bucks shipped from canada for 100 sq feet. best 120 bucks i ever spent. I did my whole contour and it made a HUGE difference. When the weather gets nice ill be doing my mountaineer.

Now i highly advise doing this on a semi warm day. The tar backing on the sheets get extreme liquidy and conforms and molds to the doors or any area quite well (when heated that is, ive used a heat gun a lighter, but a hair dryer might work). On cold days the tar become solid and non sticky quickly but it might adhere better (maybe?!).

Ive never used expanding foam because i heard it makes a mess.

Just wondering if anyone has a price range to dynamat the 4dr X. Because i wanna do it but i need a price range. thanks everyone

So you guys are saying basically I should go with the cheaper stuff mainly because of the large $$ difference, while it still does the job effectively?

the 12sq feet of dynamat extreme for doors is $80 or so at circuit city. I had a friend who worked there, so I got it for about $33.

I wish I had known about the bquiet. Where did you buy it from?

I purchased it from an ebay auction from a stereo shop in canada... i checked ebay this morning and found the exact guy and its even cheaper now!!!

I just went and talked my guys at Tweeter and they said for 500 i can do the floor, and the cargo area. for 1500 they could do the whole truck and make it almost rattle free. not bad to me and thats' labor included

hmm.... id say 2 rolls and a couple hours/days and you could do the whole truck for 270.00..

panels windows and hatches will always flex with high SPL

www.cmttrading.com has dynomayt xtreame on sale!!! 107$ for the bulk pack. Its 250$ in the crutchfield magazine. thats my 2 cents
