ecm location

Hey everyone, I just got a chip and I think I found the ECM but I want to double check. There is a box on my 96 XLT V6 on the passenger side firewall with a bolt and wires coming out of it. Is this the ECM? If anyone has a picture that would be great. Thanks!

there is a thread in the modified 2005 explorers that I *think* is your style PCM. I don't have a link, but it should be on the first page...

yes this is the ecm. It is just below the cowl panel its about 2x6 inches with a 10 mm bolt in the center.

So, is the external (engine) portion called the ECM, and internal (passenger) called PCM? Or is it either or?

found it guys, it was what i expected. I installed the jet chip and K&N intake today and didn't feel too much of a difference except with passing. Im not even sure if im gonna keep the chip on. Thanks for the help.
