EGR help?

Ok, My check engine light has been on for a few weeks, It was put on a computer that said it was the EGR valve. And it was cleared next day the light was on agin it has now been 2 weeks since then, I woke up today on my way to work and the check engine light started blinking and it smelled like somthing was burning under the hood, can anyone help me ??//:roll:
