Honestly and you might not believe it but it sounds like your trailer wire harness may have problems. A guy at work was having similar problems just last week with his 98' Ranger and when I started looking at it I found that the trailer wiring harness was corroded and broken through in a few spots (under the truck) once I pulled it out and hooked everything back up the way it was everything worked fine. Trust me I was suprised too! Good luck.

im not so much worried about the trailer lights as i am my head lights, turn signals ect...and my O/D....

Did you check this?
Wiring in one area can adversely affect another, really.

also could the electrical problem affect my o/d not working...i have an appointment the 13th with my tranny guy but if its electrical i would like to solve it without him......ty

as for as your electrical is concern, as suggested check your cargo compartment wiring but it is also likely that you multifunction switch might be bad (steering column). In addition, there is a fuse for each side of your lows.... perhaps one is gone... at least in my 96 reference ( the highs only have one fuse). In addition, the connection passes thru the "lamp out" module if you have that option... again each side has its own connection. Simple check is to look for voltage at the low beam lamp and follow it back.

For the blinking OD light, I suggest unhooking the battery for 5 minutes to reset the codes. If the light comes back on, have it checked. The '95s are somewhat notorious for kicking that light on for no apparent reason. When the light is on, you should also noticed that it is shifting harder, which is not good for the trans.

ty guys, yes the shifting has gotten harded since o/d went out in 1st to 2nd and not as bad in 2nd to 3rd. I will also try the battery thing, multifunction switch and check to see is the fuse for my second low might be missing..I check them to to if they were all good but didnt check to see if any were missing thanks guys...i will post with an update!!!!

ok this morning when i woke up i checked all the fuses some were very loose and almost out i pushed themm all back in , checked all my relays, and unplugged the battery for 5 minutes..i am happy to say my o/d is working again, my dimmer in no longer move my rev gauge up and down but unstead dimming the lights, i still can get the right lowbeam light on??? also could the rough driving have caused damage to the tranny, for now it is still haveing trouble in 1st to second?????ty guys for the help...
