I was wondering the benefits of using an electric fan versus a belt fan, my fan belt needs replaced every year, and no matter the belt in the winter it makes a whining noise and when i replace the belt it goes away, one benefit i do know with the belt friven fan is my car has never over heated in any condition, besides when my freeze plug was rusted out  and i blew a head gasket going up a hill on the highway :( other than that its a daily driver, someone once told me the main reason why truck transmissions fail was due to overheating and to add another fan near the trans cooler (the smaller radiator looking thing) or add another one (trans cooler) is this true? my trans needs some tlc while in overdrive if im going up a hill it takes forever to shift up a gear to go up the hill (i think the 3rd gear is going out) and if the trans is bad does that put extra stress on the engine? the cruise control also had to be disabled(unhooked) not sure if it was the problem but since then the trans operates better and picks up speed more, still can tell something is not right

Sounds to me like your belt is either too tight or you have an alignment issue.
