I have a 2002 explorer with 4.0 . The transmission is bad and I have a 1997 explorer with the 5.0 and a good transmission . Is it possible to swap in that motor and transmission if so what am I looking at having to do.

Anything is possible with enough time and money. However, everything would have to be custom made. The 5.0 never came in the 3rd gen, nor did the 4R70W trans. The wiring alone would be a nightmare. You can look for used engines from 4.0L Mustangs, as they tend to be cheaper. The long block will fit, but you have to use your tin and brackets.

i have a 2005 xls sport and i thought about putting a coyote in it you think it's possible any thoughts?

Trans swap will a 4r100 swap with a 5r55s

Coyote would be a nice swap into 05 for sure

But when you say you have a 05 xls sport, what is that?
The last year of the 2 door “sport” Explorer was 04 unless I’m missing something

It makes a difference what drivetrain fits whether you have a gen ii based explorer or a gen iii

We are in the gen iii section of the forum
