Apologies for a rough explanation but I'm in need of a rough diagnosis.

Car started and made a pop. Drives fine however low on power. Idle is very rough!

No fluid loss, guagues are fine however service engine is flashing.

Noise originates from passengers side below the air intake pipe.

Sounds like a tappit but is in timing with the exhaust burble.

Can anyone suggest what this could potentially be? I can't get under the hood till tomorrow due to work!

Managed to get a look, one of the distributors snapped and was half out which must have been causing a huge spark. Annoyingly the spark plug was a little loose and the spark gap was at zero. Will refit a new distributor but I can't think why the spark gap had decreased from what I set it to?

Alright now I really need help. The spark plug will NOT catch threads. The threads on the plug are fine but it will not stay in the threads of the engine.

I can't think what has caused this or what I can do to resolve it.

Can anyone help before I scrap an otherwise good car? It's not worth a lot!

Try this one mate.....
Ford spark plug repair
Sounds like ya popped the threads..... by Distributor , did ya mean cop??(the lil' ******* electrical device that send about 1,000,000,000 volts up ya arm when y'all are holding it still plugged into the loom and ya missus turns the engine over....and then laughs her ass off whilst ya layin' on the ground tryin' to yell "for ****s sake woman" but ya can't breath and ya heart is deciding if it still wants to work )...what brand spark plug??
The plug gap may have closed up as a result of ricochet (have seen this before)

You definitely had a spark plug blowout that took the threads from your cylinder head with it. They make repair kits but doing it seems like somewhat a pita

My spark plug is still in after dorman repair 5 years ago.
