I've got a manual tranny, and when I accellerate real fast, and shift real fast, the engine litterally goes dead for a milisecond. It jerks the hell out of my rig....

anyone? What's going on?

Check the spark plugs/wires. What kind of X and how many miles?

2000, 40,000 miles

Well that seems a bit too new for the spark plugs to be bad, so I don't what to do from there...it could be in the tranny and not the engine. I don't know much about the 5-speed, or the OHV for that matter, so I can't really help you. Sorry...

Sounds like a delay in the clutch - is not catching right away causing it to stall momentarily maybe. Trying to remember if I've had symptoms similar in my escort.......

How can the clutch effect the engine... it's not like an automatic where a sensor is andjusting the engine for the tranny is there?

I'm talking like the spark or the fuel is cut for a second... and it's only when I do it very fast n clean... (I used o race dirt track w/ a manual)...

I just wander, but the computer don't have a rev limiter?
Maybe when you floor the X the engines RPM are too high and the limiter activates.

Nah... i don't rev it too high... I short shift at about 4500-5000 rpms.... but I let off the gas for the same split second...... when i get on the gas again is when it stalls... the power kicks in, but then it stalls.... shakes the hell outa my rig.

Sounds like an IAC, had the same thing happening to me (automatic) and that did it!

Mine, problem happened when there was any sudden change in acceleration, the idle would dip like it was going to stall but it didn't, kind of catching itself.

Hope this helps,
Good Luck,
