Engine is toast, how to swap?

So I have everything removed and transmission is attatched by only One bolt. . However exhaust manifold bolts that attach to the downpipe are all seized. Do they both need to come off before I pull the motor? I tried a 3ft breaker bar, Wd-40 and an impact wrench all tomo avail. Any ideas?

Heat, and a good dose of it.

Map gas works pretty well as it gets hotter than propane.

There is a trick using a car battery and some steel rod to heat them up in a few seconds, but you really have to be careful doing this. Might find a YouTube video of it.

Hmmmm I don't have the option of heat as my oxy-acelteline hoses are like Swiss cheese. I was thinking a Dremel with a cutoff wheel... But I gotta find my Fire extinguisher.

Fixed it

Now you might can get someone to weld grade 8 nuts with a nickel rod to the studs getting it real hot in the process and the studs might back out. OR...you have a second set of exhaust manifolds don't you?

oh im not worried. Ill make them work.

Heat those studs with a torch and they will back right out. Then chase all exhaust threads and bolts before re install.
Like you I will just cut them or break them in the truck and deal with extracting the studs one the manifolds are out of the truck

Nice work thus far!!

Engine is 100% out.

Now I just need to get a gasket kit, swap over everything I already replaced and what I KNOW works then plunk it back in.
