I just purchased a 1995 v6 OHV explorer, with 170,x... The engine was a bit sluggish and nonresponsive so I decided to do a tune up which consisted of (oil/oil filter change, fuel filter change, clean IAC, ail filter, spark plugs (not wires). I also filled he rup with 93 octane gas (would normaly use 87) and feul addative). After changing all this i notice a great difference in startup and acceleration but soon after I noticed a knocking rumbling feeling from the engine while idling in gear. (only happens when not moving and car is in "D" or "R", can faintly feel it in neutral and park). My only guesses are the IAC cleaner still burning off from cleaning throttle body or truck doesnt like 93 octane?? any guesses ?

What type plugs?

If you installed new Bosch platinum plugs you may want to reconsider. Several forum members have had intermittent problems with them. Many members prefer Motorcraft or Autolite plugs. One custom tuner uses Champions.

I used NGK, i had another question I was looking at the firing position order on my plug wires as they were marked and mine do not match what it says in my haynes manual the order should be from from to back 1, 2 ,3 on the passenger side and 4, 5, 6 on the driver side, mine are 5, 6, 4, on the driver side : /

it is marked on both the wires and the ignition coil, any idea why this woud have been done??

Ok so I replaced the spark plug wires with autolite wires and I am getting the same thing, rumble/knock at idle in gear, any ideas???

It sounds exactly like my problem. I replaced the spark plugs and the rough idling/acceleration stopped
