The 97 V6 is common enough in Canada, shouldn't be hard to find a good one to put in... less to mess about with then...

something is telling me you may have to change your upper and lower intake, and the manifolds on it....i think.

Even if i had a very low mileage aerostar, no way would i try removing that engine. Buy another engine, the labor and time to remove it out of the van would be horrendous!

thank you all for your inpute. i will explain a little more. i have both and the are complete and running but for the blown engine in the explorer i would be doing all the work myself so labour cost is not relavent, i have rebuilt the explorer so far with all new front end (shocks, inner &outer tierod, bearings, swaybar, ball joints, breaks, ete) replace transfercase with rebuilt one, rear shocks, breaks, bearings, all within the last 10,000 klicks now the engine is knocking (sounds like it is ready to throw a rod) just had intake gasket replaced, made one trip with it and now it knocks like crazy any ideas as to what i should do short of a engine swap?

It will fit fine just use all the accessories off your "ploder engine.

Getting the engine out of a junker isnt half bad and when the labor is free......
